EMBA Safeguarding Update

18 March 2020

Dear Friends,

In light of government recommendations, we have taken the decision to suspend all planned Safeguarding Trainings up until August 2020 as such events clearly involve significant numbers of people gathering together and also a level of unnecessary travel for some.

As and when it is safe to do so, we will look to reschedule as many of the trainings as possible and we will transfer all payments already made, to the rescheduled trainings.  Please note safeguarding training remains essential for all church workers, both paid and voluntary.

Dealing with Allegations

During these unprecedented times, we recognise that there is likely to be a sharp increase in the numbers of vulnerable people; the need for self-isolation in some cases creating additional concerns.  Please could we therefore take this opportunity to remind all our church workers and volunteers of the reporting process to be followed should a concern arise and of the need to continue to act promptly.  Please see our EMBA Safeguarding Procedure.

As a Regional Team together with Alan Davies (EMBA Safeguarding Adviser) we are here to help and support you in whatever ways we can during the weeks and months ahead.

Contact details as follows:

The EMBA Team are now all working from home but remain contactable by both phone and email and are also investigating ways in which remote working tools may be used to facilitate group conversations as required.

For the foreseeable, the Regional Ministers will be endeavouring to reduce travel and movement across the region to comply with government recommendations.

Please be assured of our continued prayers for all our churches.  May we be a people of prayer, hope and generosity within the communities in which we have been placed, through these difficult and uncertain days ahead.
