The BMS World Mission Council is the governing body for BMS World Mission.
The Council is one way in which BMS expresses its accountability to the Baptist churches and unions of the UK, who support the work of BMS through prayer, promotion, financial support and service.
The Council also provides opportunity for staff and trustees to hear ‘from the grass roots’ about areas of concern or encouragement. Further, Council serves as an opportunity to keep members up to date on major developments from around the world.
BMS World Mission Council normally meets for half a day twice a year via Zoom.
EMBA has two representatives on BMS World Mission Council.
EMBA is currently represented by:
Revd Margaret Gibbs (Sept 2024 - Sept 2027)

Margaret spent some years with BMS in Nepal and Albania and so has seen for herself how much there is for UK churches to learn from working with churches and mission partners around the world. BMS now emphasises mission from everywhere to everywhere. In a rapidly changing world its good to engage with an organization that perseveres in its original mission call, while seeking to express that call in ways appropriate to the context. She says: "I'm glad to provide an extra bridge between BMS and EMBA churches." |
Pastor David Howe (Sept 2024 - Sept 2027)

David is the Pastor of Heanor Baptist Church and has served there since 1995. He has always closely followed the progress of BMS World Mission including supporting several mission workers around the world. Being an advocate of BMS to our Baptist family is a constant reminder of our commitment as Christians to inclusion and justice, and our belief that everyone deserves a place to belong, grow and thrive. David is married to Sharon, and they have a son, Jacob. |
