5th-7th February 2025
Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick
Leadership in the Wilderness
Helen is Director of Theological Education, Tutor in Biblical Studies, and Executive Director of the Centre for the Study of Bible and Violence
She writes:
The book of Numbers? Isn't that about as exciting as reading the phone directory? Is it heck!
Put yourself into Moses' sandals. You are caught between the thundering terrors and joys of Exodus and the glorious promise and threat of the campaign to take the promised land. The sun is hot above your head and the ground is hard below your feet. The people you are called to lead are utterly intransigent. Here in the wilderness your securities will be stripped away, your resolve will be tested, and your faith will be tried. Serpents might sting you, giants might attack you, and the ground might swallow you alive. Will God be faithful? Will you?
The Hebrew name for the book is much more appropriate. 'In the Wilderness'. It's about discipleship, leadership, and the faithfulness of God. Sound familiar?
Phil Knox will be speaking on Friday morning as we think about returning to our homes and churches.
Phil is an evangelism and missiology senior specialist at the Evangelical Alliance and is trying to be a good friend. His book on the subject, The Best of Friends, was published on 16 February 2023.
PLEASE NOTE THAT BOOKINGS CLOSE ON DECEMBER 31ST 2024. WE WOULD BE GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BOOKED AND PAID BY THEN AS THIS SAVES THE TEAM A LOT OF LAST MINUTE WORK.
